The Diocesan Synod is scheduled to take place in Taney Parish Centre on
Tuesday 20th October. At the time of writing it is not clear how this will be
organised and whether it might, partly or fully, go online. The parish lay
representatives are Scott Golden and Sally Smith. They will be joined by
Rev Jack and Rev Ken and the Wicklow lay representatives.

Please consider renewing or beginning your financial commitment to
Killiskey Parish by way of Planned Giving. By doing this you can maximise
the amount of money received by the Parish and greatly assist the Parish
to meet its financial commitments. Planned Giving is making a pledge to
donate an amount of money regularly over the course of the year whether
weekly, monthly, quarterly or by a single donation. Under the tax
regulations, the Parish, as a registered charity, can obtain a tax refund
from the government for recorded donations from tax payers (PAYE and
Self-Assessment) who contribute a minimum of €250 in the tax year. This
is the equivalent of €4.81 per week. The parish can claim a further approx.
45% of the amount donated from the government. Cash donations on the
plate, while very gratefully received, are not eligible for a tax refund. If you
are contributing more than €250 over the course of the year through this
method, you might like to consider Planned Giving.
Planned Giving can be done in any one of the following ways:
*The envelope system enables parishioners to donate regular cash
amounts which can be recorded for tax refund purposes. Envelopes can be
obtained from the churchwardens.
*By setting up a standing order with your bank for a minimum donation of
€5 per week (or monthly or quarterly equivalent).
*A donation or donations totalling at least €250 can be made directly to
the Parish Treasurer, Scott Golden, Malvern House, The Glebe, Wicklow
Town.

Many thanks to those who contributed to the Bishops’ Appeal for
emergency aid for the people of Beirut who were affected by the explosion
in their port area.

Whether the weather be cold, whether the weather be hot. Whatever the
weather, we’ll weather the weather, whether we like it or not.” This
didactic tongue-twister is as true today as it has ever been. Weather
seems to be wreaking havoc on our lives more frequently (although we
hear less about it just now owing to Covid19 dominating the news). Wet
summer. Stormy too. Sunny September to cheer us up. Poor weather
does have repercussions though and not just on our humour. Our very
existence depends on it as food production varies enormously in different
weather conditions. As climate change becomes ever more prescient, we
need to diversify the foods we grow to make ourselves more resilient. On
a small scale, gardeners can grow more varieties of fruit and vegetables,
while on a larger scale farmers and market gardeners could also
experiment with growing a wider range of crops. This should ensure that
each year, some varieties will flourish, no matter what the weather.

The Select Vestry has decided to ask Daphne Hall to organise the flower
rota. If you are happy to help with the supply and/or arrangement of
flowers please contact her.
We are very grateful to those who help sanitise the church at the end of
services. Please volunteer and spread the load!
We also need volunteers to hoover and clean the church.
Rotas are posted on the church notice board

The Hub is now open six days a week, mostly in the mornings. All being
well, a Tús worker will join the team during October, enabling additional
afternoon openings.
