O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
My heart tells of your word, ‘Seek my face’.
Your face, Lord, will I seek.
Blessed are you, Lord of life.
You make light and darkness,
morning and evening, day and night,
and establish the stars in their heavenly courses.
As evening falls and creatures move on the face of the earth
may we take our rest,
and awake refreshed to praise you,

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful,

A READING
Romans 8: 18-22
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labour pains until now.

Which view do you take?
We are constantly bombarded by news of the gravity of the threat that climate change poses to humanity, to the earth, to biodiversity. Some people ‘switch off’ and think that the situation is being exaggerated, while others realise that there is an urgent need to take actions to ameliorate our own impact on the world. Which view do you take?
Some people laugh at politicians for suggesting small steps to lessen our impact, others build these steps into their daily routines. Which view do you take?
Some people deride politicians for aiming too high, believing the big steps needed are just too difficult to take, the sacrifices too great; others take every step they can. Which view do you take?
Some people refuse to worry about climate change, hoping everything will be all right; others take the situation very seriously and reduce their own environmental impact as much as possible. Which view do you take?
If drought and high summer temperatures cause food shortages as predicted, some people will blame governments and say they should do more to help; others will realise that human activities are to blame. Which view do you take?
U&Ukraine
There will be a retiring collection each Sunday in May for an appeal launched by The United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough called U&Ukraine. This initiative aims to help Ukrainian people arriving in Ireland to feel welcome. The Church of St George and St Thomas in Dublin’s city centre is being made available for use as a hub and cultural centre. The well-known church, located on Cathal Brugha Street just off O’Connell Street, will become a centre of warmth, welcome and activity for those arriving in Ireland from Ukraine.
Funds are needed to upgrade kitchen and restroom facilities in St George and St Thomas’s to ensure they are fit for use by members of the Ukrainian community. The United Dioceses has committed to working closely with the Ukrainian community leaders in Ireland to identify practical ways to support and meet the needs of those arriving in the country.
In the slightly longer term, its intention is to sponsor a priest in the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition and in this way to provide pastoral and liturgical ministry to Ukrainians who have come to Ireland as displaced persons. We intend to do this in the first instance for a year. This will take some time to effect.
Funds raised during May will be forwarded to the United Dioceses to assist this appeal.
Singalong Concert for Ukraine
The Singalong Concert for Ukraine on 23rd April raised €3,000 (including €920 donated by Hollyanne Armstrong from her sketches). This money will be forwarded to the Bishops’ Appeal for the provision of humanitarian assistance in countries neighbouring Ukraine who have received refugees.

Table Tennis Club
The Table Tennis Club meets in East Glendalough School each Thursday evening 7.30pm—9.00pm. All are welcome!
Friendship Group May
